Outstanding tour

We visited Belgium in October, 2014 and knew that it would not be complete without a tour of the battlefields. Our son recommended that we join an organized tour as he had visited this area a few years ago. He was so right-and we chose the right tour company. Philippe knew much more about these places than we would have gleaned from an independent visit. There was not a question he could not answer. The transportation is very comfortable and the lunch stop is busy, but interesting. We took our friends who live in Ghent with us and they were very impressed. As C***dians, we were comforted by the meticulous condition of the cemeteries where our heroes now rest. Diane and Wayne Lilnton

I met these guys several years ago and they were absolutely fantastic. They helped me find the grave of my great uncle who was killed in World War 1. Because I am C***dian they treated me like a king which humbled me.the history and knowledge imparted was tremendously moving and valuable. Meeting them was an experience that has stayed with me for many many years. They will not remember me but I certainly remember them and the experiences they shared with me. one of the most moving moments was when I was asked to read In Flanders Fields at the field dressing station where John McCrae was stationed. thank you for creating so many wonderful memories for me.

Mr

Don't miss this trip !!!!

We booked this trip months before our visit to Bruges as this was was one thing my wife wanted to do. It was on her "bucket list " as they say. As we had booked first he even kept the two front seats for us, how cool !!!! We were not disappointed in the slightest. What an absolute brilliant day from start to finish. !!! That was from 0850 until 1830 hrs Our guide Phillipe was so knowledgeable about the history of the sites we visited it was unbelievable coupled with a few stories in between. Superb all round. The man deserves a medal himself. I did enjoy the Hill 60 and the Tyne Cot Cemetery as it felt very poignant with living in Northumberland and playing golf twice a week next to the River Tyne. Best of luck to you both and thank you for an absolute fabulous day. Worth every penny (euro) Steven

Thank you!

Our son and his girlfriend took this tour earlier in the year and recommended it highly, so we booked a weekend in Bruges just so we could take the tour. A great decision. The organisation was perfect, the itinerary gave an excellent overview of the campaign fought in the Ypres salient, the lunch stop was a treat both for the mind and stomach (Hooge Crater museum and café) and Philippe was an extremely informative, sensitive and humorous host. His reading of John McRae's 'In Flanders Fields' at the last stop lead several to reach for their hankies. The journey to each of the twelve stops was filled with background information to set it in context. We haven't taken any other Flanders tour but if there is a better one it must be ***. Thank you, Philippe.

Highly recommended

Very Very Good ***** A party of four from the UK We booked the Battfield Tour over the internet, what a good decision that turned out to be. We were collected at the hotel by taxi and taken to a central pick up point then joined the Quasimodo coach. Phillipe, our guide, was very knowledgeable and able to communicate with the right balance of serious and respect along with a sense of humour. We visited a good range of sites that together gave a comprehensive overview and there was time at each site to walk and absorb. I would strongly advise adding the Last post ceremony at the Menin gate Ypres, very moving, and the pickup after was very well organised. The whole day was exceptionally well organised with a personal touch that made all the difference. When we arrived back in the UK sitting in the in-box of the email was a map showing all the places visited, what service, thank you. We have no reservations at all in recommending Quasimodo tours.

Mr

Do not miss the opportunity to take this tour. Philippe is a gifted guide; with his knowledge, sensitivity to the subject and charming sense of humor, you'll feel, after all is said and seen, truly touched by that war and those places.

Y Ddraig Goch

“Welsh Dragon in Flanders' Fields” 5 of 5 starsReviewed 12 September 2014 NEW HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Why? The whole day was exceptionally well organised with a personal touch that is not available on the larger tours. We were picked up promptly at our hotel by taxi (included in price) and taken to the Quasimodo coach pick up point. We met our guide (host is a better word) Phillipe whose knowledge and enthusiasm were unbounded. The Quasimodo tour is for a maximum of 30 people (on this occasion there were 29 of us) which allows for the personal touch. When booking, we mentioned that we would like to see the recently unveiled Welsh memorial but this was not included in the itenerary - however, at the last stopping point on the tour, Phillipe had arranged for a taxi to be waiting to take us to the site (at no extra cost) and then take us on to Ypres for the Last Post ceremony which we had booked. The tour was well balanced with plenty of time at each site to 'do your own thing'. Phillipe's commentaries were well informed with just the right amount of humour to prevent what was a very emotional day becoming too depressing. Lunch (which was included in the price) consisted of a choice of open sandwiches taken in a cafe alongside a small but informative museum (entry also included). There is no doubt that the Last Post ceremony is a very moving experience and really should not be missed. Following the ceremony, the Quasimodo taxi was waiting only a few yards away to take us back to our hotel in Bruges. If you are looking to visit the World War I sites then there is no better way than with Phillipe and the Quasimodo Tour. The tour is certainly value for money and as stated we cannot recommend Quasimodo highly enough! Thanks, Phillipe, for a day that will truly live long in our memories and especially for the arrangements for us to visit 'Y Ddraig Goch'. Visited September 2014

If you do one thing when you go to Bruges, take this tour. Moving, meaningful, memorable…these descriptors can’t begin to describe the experience provided by Philippe. He is knowledgeable, welcoming, and professional. The tour bus was clean and comfortable. Lunch was perfect, and the itinerary was just ***. Learned a lot about the war and the effects on the local area. The museum visit after lunch and the time to view the Menin Gate were highlights of a tour filled with highlights. We really have not stopped thinking about all that we saw while on this tour. The images and moments spent walking through the cemeteries will stay with us forever. My only complaint is that we could not spend several days touring the battlefields with Philippe. Could not give this company a higher recommendation.
