My son, age 22, and I took the Flanders Fields Battlefields tour with Philippe, and we thought it was extraordinary in every way. It was the highlight of our visit to Bruges, and we are planning to return with my younger son who wasn't with us. They are very aware now that millions of young men, many even younger than my sons are now, were caught up in the vast human tragedy of the war. I can't recommend the tour highly enough.

We had a fantastic day. Philippe gave a very informative commentary and we went to the best locations. (I compared notes with my sister who had done an earlier trip with a different tour. She was quite miffed at the things she missed.) I was particularly moved by the German cemetery and we all thought that Philippe's commentary was sensitively done. The lunch arrangements were well organized and very ef***ient and we didn't feel that valuable tour time was wasted. The whole tour had a great atmosphere, respectful, informative and sociable.

Mr & Mrs

Philippe's knowledge & enthusiasm made our day on the Flanders Field Tour truly memorable. The tour was carefully planned to take in many well-known and thought provoking sites - Tyne Cot, the Menin Gate, Es*** Farm Dressing Station & the last resting place of a 15 year old boy - to mention just a few. The lunch stop was at a very interesting small museum, which needed a bit more time to fully appreciate, something to visit on another occasion? We can thoroughly recommend this tour.

Thank you for a fantastic guided tour of the Battlefields. I was very impressed with the detailed knowledge and enthusiasm that Philip affords to his passengers. The museum stop was most interesting and the lunch enjoyable. I can certainly recommend Quasimodo Tours to anyone wishing to visit Belgium. With gratitude.

Re Many thanks.

Hi Philippe, Could not see where to leave revew on website so here is our review below: Father and son If you love history strongly recommend you book this trip. Its an excellent, informative, very well organised trip that in a day will give you a grasp of the events of Belgium campaign during WWI. My son is 10 and loved the trip. It gave him an understanding of the historical signi***ance of WWI, the great loss and cost of war, something I was really keen for him to see and understand. Philippe was an outstanding tour guide, very informative, interesting and was very happy to answer questions. Good value for money, if you are looking for a WWI tour I would recommend Quasimodo tours.

Thank you for the excellent Flanders Field tour on 22nd August. My daughter & I had wanted to visit Ypres for a long time & to do so with you as our guide made it special. The wet day made us realise even more how bad conditions were for both sides in this dreadful war. You have a great way of sharing your incredible knowledge of the area. A trip not to be missed.

Brilliant Day

We had a wonderful day on the Flanders Fields tour on 21 August. It was the highlight of our stay in Bruges. It was both memorable and moving. Phillipe has an *** breadth of knowledge which he passed on to us in a measured and interesting way. We have already recommended this tour to several friends. Everything about the day was excellent, even the weather was good - a truly brilliant experience.

Hi Sharon and Philippe, I just wanted to say,.........THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK both of you. It was lovely to meet Philippe and it would’ve loved to met you also Sharon. Philippe: Thank you so much for 2 wonderful days. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I got to see parts of Belgium that I wouldn’t have otherwise. Your knowledge is vast and I felt privileged that I was one of the ones that you shared it with. The Triple Delights tour was fun ate a tasty sandwich & yummy waffle (the only one I had during my stay), and got to see buildings and architecture that we don’t have in Oz, aside from listening to your tall tales......remember the lambs??? Hahaha. The Battlefields tour was fabulous, I really enjoyed it. It probably isn’t right to say that I enjoyed something that caused so much pain and suffering to so many, but what I mean is I now have a better understanding of where these events happened, they’re no longer a line in a text book. To have visited Tyne Cot so soon after the South African internment was very moving and very special for me. It really gave a human perspective to the visit. Visiting Langemark German Cemetery (so many young lives lost), Es*** Farm Cemetery and Dressing Station (bringing “In Flanders Fields” alive) and The Yorkshire Trench and Dug out (to have some perspective of what a trench would have been like) were deeply moving events for me. Couple that with the Menin Gate Service, which was so moving, I had tears streaming down my cheeks as the Last Post sounded. An exceptional, if emotionally draining day. I wish both of you and your family all the very best for the future, and thank you so much for your patience as my booking chopped and changed for medical reasons. I’m so glad I hung onto my dream to visit the WWI Flanders battle fields, because I got to go with the best tour guide in the business. Thank you so much Warm regards Kerry Capelli

Simply excellent

Philippe, many thanks for the excellent Flanders Field tour in July. Many others have said it, but your knowledge and very clear expl***tion of the political and military issues added enormously to the trip. It was an experience I will not forget. Enjoyable but very thought provoking. Thanks also for going back for my camera! Regards Adrian

Philippe took my wife Jan & myself on both the Belgium Countryside and the Battlefield tours. The countryside tour was great fun, Philippe is an excellent tour guide and the bus was very comfortable. As an ex Vietnam veteran I found the Battlefield Tour very moving with Philippe giving first class naration along the way. His research was very through. We stayed on for the Menin Gate last post ceremony which made the hair on the back of my head stand on end. The cab that was arranged was driven by a pleasant local who chatted with us all the way back to Brugge. We would give both tours a rating of four stars. Smart move Philipe to marry an Aussie. Good Luck to both of you, may your business florish. Greg & Jan Bowman
